Hey guys,
Im guessing this forum is for peoples personal views on how they feel things are going so i thought id say mine.
I would like to question what training was ment to be about this week because there was alot which wasnt very cleat at all which i was getting quite stressed at.
Can i ask if there is like alot of preparation that goes into a training night??? Eg ppl speak to each other on the phone to discuss what would be good to do on the night and bennificial to the team??? Im not going to say anything about the 5 guys exersise appart from was there any need to be in such close perameters to the other teams and for the squares that we were working in to be the size that they were???
What was the reasoning behind splitting the team up into defenders, midfielders and strikers, becuase when i went away as a "defender" i was used to play an attacking midefielder for the whole exersise which baffled me a bit. I also feel that what was ment to be happening during this exersise wasn't very well disscussed due to some members to play "here" and other saying to play "there" ??? Im not having a go at anybody about this due to the fact that i cant actually play but i need to learn somehow so i thought that if what was ment to be getting done was explained more clearly and in more detail it would help me and maby some other members of the team. Also can i ask the purpose of the exersise where the attacers/midefielders were tryin to get the ball from us??? I know that it is to build up tactics and stuff but in a proper game wont the situation be totaly diffarent from what we were doin?
Can i ask if there is ment to be a shortage of keepers in gear turning up at training??? Is there a specific reason for this or is there training schedule diffarent from others??? Because i did notice Dek Sim i think his name is was there tonight and i was informed that he was the keeper so was just wondering what happens on that front becuse i thought it is good practice to have keepers traingin and maby joining in with some of the in game exersices to give a more realistic feel???
Cheers Kenny F

Those are fair points that will taken on board. As the people who go to training are at different skill levels and experience, plus many of the first team are not present we have to do exercises with the available players. If at anytime anyone does not understand what is going on then that is the time to ask. Two keepers were not there last night and Derek is used these days as a outfielder. May I remind everyone of the members roles and responsibilities, Everyone is a defender or attacker or midfielder, everybody attacks and defends it is not a question of what your preference is, it's what's ask of you to do for the team you are playing in. Obviously in an ideal world both teams would have been there with keepers to make it more realistic but that is an extremely remote possibility. The exercises that we do seem to the experienced player to be boring and repetitive but it has tbe done. If you cannot handle the basics then it is a waste of time training for other things. We are all human and mistakes will be made, so if anyone feels they are not getting the benefits of outdoor training remember this is the first training this club has had for 5 years then they should ask what they need to learn. Kenny,
Martin here - great to see some constructive feedback and questions on training.
Structure of coaching as follows
Sui is Club Outdoor Coach and has various helpers who have also qualified as Hockey Leaders or Level 1 Coaches - these include Andy, Vito, Dave, Jamie, Ritchie, Richard and myself.
You are right there should be preparation - this is happening but as yet maybe not as visible as it could be. There should be session plans prepared in advance and then placed in the training folder - to allow anyone of the coaches to pick up and run with if Sui can't make it for some reason.
We are learning - this is the first season in a long long time where we have had astro training and getting reasonable numbers attending. We will make mistakes and it's good to hear from you (or anyone else) about how you feel things are getting put across, their relevance etc..
Sui - I'm sure you've got some thoughts to add.
Cheers
Martin (Bogey, El Pres)
P.S. Sorry I'll stop calling you Kev!!! |

Guys Fantastic!! Constructive discussion regarding the running of the club. There has been a lot of mistakes made over past few months regarding club issues not just training and the sooner things are put out into a discussion forum the easier and quicker resolutions can be made.
I think that, like all things we do, there was always going to be teething troubles with our training sessions from turnout, costs, pitch size,a training program ,travel to Arbroath etc.
I think Sui has taken on the responsibility to coach which is commendable but has been let down by lack of guidance(support) from senior members(myself included)
I think the management should meet soon (Sui also) and lets set out a plan that is acceptable to all and more importantly a plan Sui is comfortable with operating along with those qualified to help.
THE TIME IS NOW HERE FOR US ALL TO WORK TOGETHER REMEMBERING WHAT OUR INDIVIDUAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS REQUIRE US TO IMPLEMENT.(MANAGEMENT & PLAYERS ALIKE)
Thanks Kenny for starting the ball rolling, but WHAT THE HELL IS BEING TAUGHT TO OUR YOOF AS NUN OF THE YOUNGURR ONES ON HERE CAN SPEL...APPAULLING!!

Thanx for the feedback guys. Let get a meeting to thrash out a proper training programme that is suitable. Obviously we can't please everyone all of the time but any ideas, no matter how silly it seems will be considered. Sui
